D Day - approaching Omaha - color restored by pwnagepancakes

D Day was 6th June 1944 – the start of the airborne and amphibious landings that began the liberation of Europe. Many countries are commemorating this day, 70 years on, and the UK is no exception. Southsea Common is the venue for the activities in the Portsmouth area, fittingly so as much of the D Day planning took place locally and the beaches, piers and jetties along the Solent coastline were the lauching point for the biggest amphibious operation in history.

So come along and join in – events will be happening from 2nd June with the weekend of 7-8 June being the climax of the week-long commemoration!
