“To commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the Bomb damage to boathouse No.6 on the night of the 10th/11th March 1941 (2nd blitz of Portsmouth), and now in its third year, Action Stations will be hosting a World War II themed weekend on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th March 2014.
Event highlights include a static model boat display by the Surface Warships Association and various display/handling tables provided in partnership with Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower, Priddy’s Hard, Gosport and the National Museum of the Royal Navy.
Get into the wartime atmosphere with 1940’s music, meet wartime characters, find out about the history of Boathouse No.6 on our special interest tour* to find out what it was like when Britain was at war.
Additionally on Saturday 8th March at 7pm, No.6 Cinema will be screening “The Railway Man” on Saturday 8 March at 7pm#. The Railway Man tells one man’s story of building the Burma railway in WWII and his quest to find his captors in later life.
Daytime events are free with a valid Portsmouth Historic Dockyard single attraction ticket, site ticket or Loyalty Club card holders. Additional charges apply for “The Railway Man” on Saturday evening.
